Jack Parsons is an Internal Sales Advisor at Banner Plant, based at Banner Plant Derby. In this personal reflection for Pride Month, he shares why inclusion, visibility and belonging matter so much – both in the workplace and beyond.
Pride Month means a lot to me, both personally and professionally.
As someone who is proudly gay, I know how important it is to feel accepted, respected and valued for who you are. Being able to bring your authentic self to work can have a huge impact on confidence, wellbeing and that all-important sense of belonging.
That is one of the reasons Pride Month matters so much. It is a time to celebrate the LGBT+ community, recognise the progress that has been made, and reflect on why inclusion should never be limited to just one month of the year.
For me, Pride is also about visibility. It is about creating spaces where people feel safe to be themselves without fear of judgement, and where individuality is not just accepted, but respected. When that happens, it benefits everyone.
At Banner Plant, I’m proud to be part of a business that understands the value of its people. The different experiences, perspectives and backgrounds we all bring help make our workplace stronger, more supportive and more inclusive.
Pride Month is also about recognising the role of allies. So much of real inclusion comes from the everyday actions of others: showing support, listening, being respectful and helping to create an environment where people feel seen and understood.
While Pride is a celebration, it is also a reminder that challenges still remain for many in the LGBT+ community. That is why continuing these conversations and standing together is so important.
For me, this month is a chance to celebrate who we are, support one another and keep building a culture where everyone feels they belong.
At Banner Plant, that is something worth being proud of – during Pride Month and every day after.
